Getting ready for Halloween Shows

From the mind of the Irish Witch...........

These Gooblets are getting ready for their debut at Spirits in Sanford.
They are about 18" tall and hold a battery operated candle so the eye flicker.  They were so much fun to make that I plan on making more when I get back from Orlando shows.
From the mind of the Irish Witch...........

What a fun piece this was to make!!  While playing around with some clay that was left over from another project, I came up with this design.  I started by sculpting little skeleton parts and accidentally made a scary faced flower.  Knowing that coffin decor is big this season I decided to make my own.  Soon pushing up daisies was coming together.  Creative paperclay and prosculpt were used to complete this project.

The coffin its self is about 6” in length and about 2” in height.  A little Skelly is tucked inside and wrapped in purple velvet.  As skelly pushes the lid of his coffin up, he also pushes up some scary faced daisies.

I really enjoyed created this piece and I hope you see the fun in it.

Halloweenies - take a peek at what is new

From the mind of the Irish Witch...........

Morris Mummy Halloweenie

Little Morris is all wrapped up with his unruly hair popping out of the bandages.  He’s who is all excited to be dressed up and hit the streets begging for candy to fill his little bucket.

I started creating "Halloweenies" in 2015 for a Halloween Show I was exhibiting at. They turned out to be a big selling item and I’m happy to say that a couple of them are published in the current edition of Art Doll Quarterly.

“Halloweenies” are little miniature semi- posable dolls that are little faceless kiddos with masks on, each are 6" tall seated and about 10" tall with legs outstretched.  They are the little ones who come to your door with their little trick or treat buckets expecting goodies.

Hand sculpted with paperclay and proscuplt, then carefully painted and dressed.  A hang tag with the following description is attached to each “Halloweenie”.

Garden of Stones

Standing barefoot at the gate of a cemetery, this red headed witch is beckoning you in with a subtle curving of her right index finger, sassy little smile and innocent green eyes.   She holds an oracle glass in her left hand and is ready to tell you about your future if you dare.

This vignette stands about 10” tall on a 8” wooden base.  The witch figure, snakes, skull and grave stone have been sculpted from prosculpt clay and hand painted.  A metal archway is covered in natural elements as well as the pathway that she stands on.

Zahara - Zen Art Doll

From the mind of the Irish Witch

$150.00  contact Susiewhc@gmail.com

Zahara is an art doll that stands about 10" tall.  She is standing on a sconce that hangs easily hangs on a wall with a light weight nail.  The whole piece is about 14" tall by 12" wide.

This one of a kind doll was created and designed by me using vintage fabrics and thrift store finds.

I sculpted Zahara out of paperclay and attached her to a candle holder/sconce I found at a thrift shop. This little red head is draped in beautiful gold toned clothing made from vintage fabrics. She meditates silently with her hands to heart center; her mala resting around her beaded wrists.
She peacefully holds a tree pose in the middle of a lovely lotus. The lotus was created by sculpting each petal out of wire and filling with pink shear fabric, and finally embellishing with natural elements of moss and fern.

Thank you so much for stopping by my shop.

Jack Out of the Box

From the mind of the Irish Witch...........

There are those pieces that you truly love making.  This one was so fun as it came together.  Jack is popping out the of box and seems just a tad surprised.
This piece sold at Spirits in Sanford Oct 2015

The other me.................

From the mind of the Irish Witch........

Sometimes I feel I have a split personality. My favorite me by far is the newest me that is creating a lot of "Witchy Craft". But on the other hand, there's this side of me....not very scary or witchy at all.

I wish the photos were better, but this is a floor cloth I created sometime ago.  It is with one of my customers now, but it's one of my favorites.  I designed this one shortly after a dear family friend gave me a few of her quilts she collected before she passed away.  I always thought I would create a floor cloth quilt line in her honor and I still may do so.
I would love to know what you think.....feedback is oh so good.

Floor Cloth inspired by early 1600-1700 coverlet

From the mind of the Irish Witch...........

For most this won't seem to "Witchy", but this is a floor cloth I designed using coverlet inspired colors and shapes from the 1600's; the time of the Salem Witch Trials.
This is available for purchase on Etsy at the link below.

Art you just can't put away

From the mind of the Irish Witch...........

Christmas is all tucked away until next year, all but these two little pieces. I like to keep these in my studio along with other pieces I acquire from the artists I meet online and at shows. This way I can enjoy them all year long. So much better than any commercial products. Thank you Chuck McClenning and Debb George for sharing your talents.

Wonderland inspired sculpture

Wonderland

It all started with a candle stick much like the one pictured above.  When I saw it at Goodwill, I saw the Cheshire Cat smiling back at me.  This project took many many hours to complete as I found myself wanting to keep adding to it.  I wanted a little symbol of each of my favorite characters from Alice in Wonderland to be present.  I love how it turned out!  Let me know what you think?
